Passionate about applying big data for social good? Are you...

  • Seeking to find ways to solve problems differently by leveraging the vast amount of data we are generating today?
  • Eager to acquire the skills required to frame and commission effective data-driven projects that lead to tangible, real-world outcomes?
  • Working in or thinking about starting an analytics unit within your organization?

Course Description

Today’s society generates data at an astounding rate. Growing almost as quickly are expectations about how such data could be used and how much value it could create. Yet there are challenges to deriving useful and actionable insights from big data and translating those into new policies, effective services and better ways to improve the lives of people in our communities. This program will focus on how to design, implement, and evaluate analytics projects so that they consistently deliver measurable, scalable results. We will talk about how to identify tested frameworks for data diagnostics, acquisition, and sampling; discuss strategies for framing complex problems so they can be legitimately addressed by analytics work; and work out practical guidelines for working responsibly with data-driven insight to the end of advancing your projects. There is a special focus on the practical aspects of creating actionable insight in urban environments and empowering you to contribute to making cities more efficient, livable, equitable, and resilient. This program is designed for leaders, executives, and entrepreneurs who want to be on the cutting edge of the big data revolution. It will benefit professionals from the public and private sectors involved in all city-related industries.
